New construction of the forestry workshop of the Burgergemeinde, Biel

After a prequalification, the Biel architectural office Bauzeit won the competition for the new forestry workshop of the Burgergemeinde Biel. It accommodates the prescribed space program in 2 buildings on the north side of the road.
The project
The valley-side warehouse, production and sales building was planned as a single-story skeleton structure. So that the various uses could be covered with a uniform load-bearing system, a load-bearing system was chosen as follows.
The construction method
Simple columns and single, partly double main beams in the transverse direction - rafter purlins above. The administration building was constructed as a timber frame building with visible board stack ceilings. The walls also partly consist of internally visible board stacks. Ventilated formwork was mounted on top.

Forstwerkhof of the Burgergemeinde Biel
Lignum Holzbulletin 91/2009 - The premises and operational procedures of the Forstwerkhof no longer met today's requirements. The client therefore invited tenders for an architectural competition. The area of the Burgergemeinde extends to both sides of the road. However, in order to be able to guarantee good operational procedures, the implemented competition draft provided for the program to be summarized on one page. Following the topography, the buildings now form a courtyard, which offers large outdoor areas but remains compact.
