The project
The existing building was completely renovated and at the same time one floor was added. While the existing building is made of reinforced concrete, the extension was realized in a lightweight timber construction.
The construction
In the case of the addition in wood, the exterior walls are made of a stud wall. On the outside, the stud wall is provided with external thermal insulation and finished with an abrasion. The roof is formed by hollow box elements that support the flat roof structure.
The challenge
The exterior walls should be as slender as possible. The load transfer points are very punctual over the whole extension, due to the existing building.
