Temporary restaurant "time out" Cantonal Hospital, Aarau

The project
The Cantonal Hospital Aarau is projecting a new building within the existing hospital site, which will replace the existing clinics. Construction activities began in 2019 and will be largely completed by 2023. The existing LeClou staff restaurant will be replaced with a temporary facility designed to operate for 4-5 years.
The new building will be realized between the existing buildings House 1 and House 3. On the 1st floor, the restaurant will offer space for a maximum of 600 people. On the 2nd floor there are storage and ancillary rooms. Below the two main floors are the technical facilities and parking spaces. The building is connected to the neighboring buildings via an elevator in the basement.

The construction method
The building is a post and beam construction with box girder elements both for the ceiling and for the roof. In the transverse direction of the building, large beams are stretched, which stand on columns anchored in the ground with pile foundations.
The challenge
Torealize the planning and works design in such a short time was possible thanks to a good cooperation with the timber constructor and the other specialized planners. This was achieved with an automated correx phase with the 3D models. This new matching possibility saves time for the approval. We also started a pilot project with a new tool of the drawing program, where several employees worked simultaneously on the 3D model. This also saved time.
